Description

Named by Time.com's @Techland as one of the best weather apps for your iPhone and Apple Watch. Severe weather alerts for your exact location. Storm Shield gives you storm-based alerts for tornado, hurricane, flood, thunderstorm, winter storms and other life-threatening weather events via voice and push notification. Storm-based alerts help reduce false alarms by alerting you to severe weather based on your exact location within a county. County-based alerts can result in false alarms, warning you when your location in the county is not within the threatened area. What people are saying: • Storm Shield "alerted our family of the Broken Arrow, OK tornado, faster than the TV and tornado sirens." - Robyn • "I was in Oklahoma City during the tornado... we were right in its path. Your app literally was a life saver." - dcalk12 Benefits: • Get voice alerts just like a NOAA weather radio via push notification anywhere in the United States. • With Apple Watch, get a tap on your wrist when alerts are issued for your locations. • Add Storm Shield's widget to your Today screen to get quick access to active alerts for the first location in your app. • Touch Storm Shield's app icon on your 3D-Touch enabled iPhone for widget access. • Hi-Def radar map is your home screen so you can quickly see what's going on at your locations. • Fully supports Dark Mode in iOS 13. • Long-tap on the map to get current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts. • Save additional locations to ensure family members stay safe. View NOAA severe weather alerts on the map to see where dangerous weather is happening: • Tap alerts to view info • Flood watches & warnings • Tornadoes & Thunderstorms • Hurricane & Tropical Storm forecast tracks • Winter storms • Marine & Coastal alerts • Radar & Clouds • Wind Speed • Snow Fall • Water Temperatures • Road Weather • Premium Weather (purchase required) • Lightning Alerts and notifications (purchase required) Enhance your app with auto-renewing monthly subscriptions: • Buy 'Premium Weather' to unlock these features and see predicted imagery for these map layers: 1) Future Radar 2) Future Clouds 3) Future Clouds & Radar together 4) Future Surface Temperature Land 5) Future Surface Temperature Water 6) Future Surface Temperature Land & Water together 7) Future Wind Speeds Map 8) Storm Tracks: See how fast storms are moving & where they're headed. • Buy 'Lightning' to unlock these 2 features: 1) Lightning strike push notifications up to 10 miles away. 2) See lightning on the map within 100 miles of a selected location. • Worse than a GARBAGE APP…

After 20+ YEARS of using this app, ROTTING GARBAGE IS MORE ACCURATE & RELIABLE NOW. I relied on this app for decades. This app NO LONGER helps save lives - PERIOD!! (And I KNOW my Meterology. I’ve been SAR, a Volunteer First Responder, Volunteer K9 Searcher, AWS w/Air Force in college & still a Storm Chaser to name just a few professions that require meteorological knowledge.) Greedy buyers/“investors” did what they do best: buy what they know NOTHING about, gut it, significantly increase price & FALSIFY THEIR INFO (WILDLY FALSIFYING STORM SHIELD APP!!! WOW!) with INFO FROM YEARS AGO to impress the unaware. —> SCUM IN DRAIN PIPES HAS BETTER QUALITY & ACCURACY THAN STORM SHIELD NOW! <— —> PRICE GAUGING as well for THIS NOW GARBAGE storm shieldLESS APP. <— The list of what has not been destroyed in this app is so long there is only one thing to list that’s not: graphics have slightly improved. **** CANCELED MY SUBSCRIPTION, and I paid for the best on this app for myself and my team & volunteers, & ALL of MY CLIENTS HAVE CANCELLED AS WELL. PS: WHO IN THE HECK MAKES PIN-DROPS THE SAME COLOR AS THE WEATHER RADARS SO YOU CANNOT FIND A SPECIFIC LOCATION DURING SEVERE WEATHER??!! Oh yeah, the INCOMPETENT “INVESTORS” who bought out THIS NOW GARBAGE APP. (IE: Red pin drops with red severe rain fall radar OVER the red pinned location (and blue pins during blue winter weather alerts) for you incompetent “investors” - just a red or blue blob.)
  • New developer firm is greedy

I first downloaded this app several years ago when it’s original owners and developers had it. Living in Iowa, severe weather is a thing and promptness, accuracy and reliability are THE key attributes for a severe weather alerting app to demonstrate. Storm Shield ticked all three boxes for years both in Iowa and for the brief time I lived in another state. Like some of the reviews suggest, I was impressed by the fact that the app would push an alert before other outlets or outdoor warning sirens. Didn’t matter if the alert was related to convective weather, winter weather, high winds or fog…Storm Shield was always ahead of the game-and at a very reasonable price. $.99/mo for everything. Granted one doesn’t have to purchase any upgrades in order to get the key functionality which is the alerting. What I am floored by is how the current developer can justify such an up charge to $11.49+? What is the true value proposition that warrants increasing price from $.99, to $5 or 6, to what it is today?? Not only is this monthly cost not practical, I have noticed that the reliability and timeliness of the app to alert has declined. Sometimes it is delayed significantly but many times it doesn’t even alert when it should. This decline while the cost increases leads me to only one conclusion: the development and ownership folks care more about profit than the consumer experience.
  • Price Increase is too much,

Latest price increase to over $11 a month is too much. It adds uo to more than $120 year. After almost a decade, I am cancelling my subscription. I will miss you but this is too much.
  • Pins Other Areas

I like the radar and temperature features as well as storm warnings. But other places show up as pinned I don't care about. I don't know how they got pinned or how to get rid of them. I'm sure every time I delete it and start over I'm charged for it.
  • Not that great

Absolutely gave us no alert for the tornado that touched down. At least I was watching the news and heard the sirens
  • No tornado alert

Once again we have tornado sirens and this app was silent. If you are looking for an app to keep you safe, this one is not it.

This app is not worth $11.49 a month. What are you doing?
  • Can't Restore Subscription

A family member has a subscription for the app and even though family sharing is enabled on both their devices and mine, Storm Shield errors out and doesn't allow me to restore the subscription.
  • Forecast sucks

I’ve used this app for many many years but now the forecasting is terrible. It says the high will be 65 degrees but then the hourly says it will only get up to 37 degrees. I only use it for the radar now.
